Kamala Harris
Kamala Devi Harris, born on the 20th of October 1964 was a prominent American politician as well as a lawyer. She is currently the 49th vice president of the United States. She is the first woman to be elected vice president and she is also the most powerful female officer in American history. She is a member of Congress and a former US senator representing California. Harris was born in Oakland, California. She graduated from Howard University as well as the University of California Hastings College of the Law. After starting her career as an Alameda County District Attorney, Harris was recruited to San Francisco District Attorney's Office. Then she was appointed the City Attorney of San Francisco. The office was named San Francisco district attorney in 2003. Harris was appointed Attorney General of California in 2010 and elected again in 2014. Between 2017 and 2021, Harris was the junior United States senator for California. Harris beat Loretta Sanchez in the 2016 Senate election, becoming the 2nd African American woman and the first South Asian American to serve in the United States Senate. As senator, Harris fought for healthcare, federal de-scheduling and the legalization of cannabis as a pathway to citizenship of undocumented immigrants, and the DREAM Act which bans assault weapons. She is best known for her direct questions to Trump administration officials in Senate hearings.
